In the UK more than 4.9 million people have diabetes and the NHS spends at least £10 billion a year on diabetes, which is 10% of its entire budget.

With Diabetes UK predicting that by 2030 there may be as many as 1 in 10 UK adults living with diabetes we would expect prescribing figures for drugs used in diabetes to continue to increase.
